No more mandatory aging in wood for Sagrantino di Montefalco? This is the proposal of some producers who would prefer to enhance the intrinsic characteristics of the grapes and therefore avoid the use of barrels. Hence the idea, which will be examined by the Consortium for the Protection of Montefalco Wines, for a modification of the specification that makes the use of wood optional and thus allows the use of natural terracotta amphorae instead of barrels. The decision, specifies the president Filippo Antonelli, will be taken next autumn.
