Wine: Red
Region: Toscana
Winery: MOCALI
Vintage: 2007

Grape: Sangiovese 85%, Malvasia Nera 10%, Alicante 5%

Ageing: 10 months in big oak barrel, 6 months in bottles
This wine has at the same time the richness and the body of a delicious Brunello, the nuance of a Super Tuscan and the wonderful acidity of a Chianti. It has ripe blackberry and mineral notes with a nose of violets and dark berries. It is full-bodied and well-structured, intense and elegant. Rich, with a hint of dark chocolate, plum, cherry and black raspberry. Long, silky smooth finish.

Situated to the southwest of Montalcino at an altitude of 300-350 meters above sea-level, the Mocali estate is comprised of 32 hectares, 6 of which are specialized vineyards (5 Hectares of Sangiovese Grosso), and 4 dedicated to olive groves. As over half of the estate is covered by a vegetation characteristic to the hill on which Montalcino stands, the vineyards and olive groves alternate with a landscape of woodland of ilex, oak and arbutus. The soil is rendered highly mineral; salt owing to the presence of marl and limestone.
