Description

This wine is an elegant example of the Morellino di Scansano DOCG style of wine. "Morellino" is the name used to call Sangiovese grapes in this area. 

Colour: Deep ruby colour.
Aroma: Red fruit character, characterized by red cherry and bluberries aromas, with a liquorice final note.
Taste: Full-bodied with vibrant acidity that help to enhance the primary fruits aromas.
Alcohol: 13%
Grape: Sangiovese 85%, Malvasia Nera 10%, Alicante 5%
Ageing: 10 months in big oak barrels, 6 months in bottles.

Winery

Situated south-west of Montalcino at an altitude of 300-350 meters above sea-level, the Mocali estate is made of 32 hectares, 6 of which are specialized vineyards (5 Hectares of Sangiovese Grosso), and 4 dedicated to olive trees. Half of the estate is covered by a characteristic vegetation of the Montalcino landscape. The soil is composed of marlstone and limestone.

This dessert is both sweet and fatty, so it has a powerful sweet aroma and a smooth texture. Buth this is not an usual dessert because it is made of sausages, shrimps and Cantonese dried pork. It has a powerful aftertaste dominated by bittersweet notes.
This particular dessert, smooth with a long-lasting bittersweet finish, needs a wine like this Morellino di Scansano DOCG. Its acidity and powerful primary aromas balance the powerful aromas of both dried pork ad sausages. Moreover, the smooth tannins and the warming effect of the alcohol help to keep in balance the bittersweet aftertaste.
